Pitch - The Hunt

Pitch

Title: The Hunt

Genre: Thriller/Horror

Form: Short Trailer

Location: New Forest (Camping)

Time: Afternoon/Early Evening

Characters:
5/6 characters, one main character/vulnerable character, one killer
·        Jessica (vulnerable)
·        Liam
·        Ben
·        Adam
·        Amy

Plot Outline:
Every group of friends dreams of going out for a camping trip, sitting around a huge camp fire, singing, drinking, and telling scary stories... But this group of friends didn’t have this planned, trust them to go into the woods the same night as an murderous psychopath decides to roam the woods looking for some fresh, young prey... 5 friends, 1 trained killer. The hunt is on.

Key micro features:

Camerawork:  Low shots used to show dominance of the killer, High angle shots used on the characters to show their loss of security. Establishing shots to be set using a drone and a GoPro Camera to really get a grasp of the surrounding area and get some cool, smooth shots in as well as being used on other things such as cars and weapon. Close ups to be used of weapon, killers face and emotions of various characters.

Editing: Text Graphics to be used in consistency with the shot, quick fade outs in conjunction with action scenes, and will be moving with the shot/placed onto stationary objects within the shot. Slow motion to be used on weapon, and throughout trailer, flashes of black screen to create an intense atmosphere alongside the tense music and various sound effects.

Sound: Tense music and variety of sound effects used throughout the trailer to create a gloomy atmosphere and make it look rather scary. There will be various natural sounds recreated such as the sound of fire, sound of footsteps & sound of the forest as well as breathing.

Target Audience: The target audience for the film would be 15+ as the film will include some violence and bloody scenes, not suitable for children.

Audience Appeal: Intense, mysterious, scary and breath-taking. All work together to draw in viewers’ attention. I plan on using a variety of action clips, with the use of sound effects and editing techniques to create a visually appealing trailer. There will be violent scenes towards the end that will grab the viewers’ attention and make them want to view the full film.
